LA Mental
Last weekend, I was blessed with the opportunity to spin along side some of my favorite DJs & good friends, doc bLAdez & DJ Notorious. bLAdez put together an art show, LA Mental, and asked both Notorious & I to jump on the decks. Since these cats are serious hip-hop HEADz, I dug deep into my crates to bless their ears with a special eclectic-beat-heavy set. I felt I owed it to them, especially since fellow b-boy aficionado DJ Ben G was in the house. Lotta pressure to step up when these cats are around. When I walked in, bLAdez was strictly on vinyl (love it) and nothing feels as good as that warm crackle. Then Notorious got on & proceeded to take me back to the 90s, with cutz from what I like to dub the golden-age of hip-hop. Fellaz, it was a true joy playing with you & listening to you guys melt wax (not to mention the dope T’s you both were sportin’). The night ended with a live performance by Hoodini & KinG!, a nice surprise to close out the evening. This kid Hoodini can flow, check him out people. And anytime you get a chance to hear doc bLAdez or DJ Notorious spin, be there. Trust me, you will enjoy it. Looking forward to the next installment of LA Mental!
